Tom Baker on-set for the first story of his thirty-seventh season as "Doctor Who."

The Leisure Hive (working title: It's All Downhill From Here) is the first serial of the 18th Season of the classic run of Doctor Who. The special effects budget was up so it looks better than previously, but it's kind of stupid.

This was JNT's very first episode as showruiner so it doesn't make a lot of sense, but it does keep them running around.

The Doctor and the sexy Romana land on a planet of green people with ridiculous wigs who grow beans out of the top pointy bits of their heads, which then drop off one by one as they get older. The Doctor walks into one of their machines and comes out old with a beard (the first Doctor to have a beard!). The silly beanheads are fighting some insect race which look like their costumes were beaded together.

It's decent, however it's also probably the most un-Tom Bakery story in the Tom Baker era (probably because Tom himself barely does anything and is wearing old-age makeup half the time).

I don't think much else took place here, except for the Doctor losing his great multicolor scarf and having to wear a dull maroon one that matched his new maroon coat.

I think the stupid question-mark shirt collars pop up here too, for their interminable run over the JNT era. Oh yeah and the new form of the opening titles. Apparently no one in the cast liked any of these changes and who can blame them? I don't. Really, JNT started screwing up from his first minute on set.

[edit: JNT picked a better theme tune. Also I like the question mark shirt]

[edit: the question mark shirt is bad, and you should feel bad.]

[edit: the maroon coat and scarf is better than the other designs]
