Man, Pirates of the Caribbean was really good, wasn't it? Wouldn't it be great if we could have a Doctor Who episode like that? A buncha pirates, a fine ship, some evil sea spirits, just paper it over with aliens to taste. I'm sure it would be amazing, all we'd need is an enormous budget to afford all that.
The Curse of the Black Spot (working title: Moffat Likes This One More Than The Beast Below) is a terribly boring, uninteresting episode of series 6, featuring like 5 pirates, a third-scale model boat, a chick with a blowdryer and stoplight under her dress, and the most uninspiring sci fi mystery the series has ever produced, a list that includes slug egg stellar cueballs and a literal, unironic deus ex machina.
